Responsibilities
- Deploy, install, upgrade, and operate ICEYE’s platform, Kubernetes clusters, and containerized applications in cloud, on-premises, secure, and air-gapped customer environments.
- Build infrastructure-as-code, offline-capable delivery pipelines, artifact mirroring, and isolated-network deployment processes.
- Design and build high-performance APIs, backend services, data pipelines, integrations, and database systems for large-scale satellite imagery and intelligence data.
- Own PostgreSQL and MongoDB schema design, indexing, tuning, replication, backup, recovery, caching, queueing, scaling, and capacity planning.
- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, security hardening, recovery paths, and reliable infrastructure for AI workloads including model serving, vector databases, and GPU nodes.
- Work directly with intelligence analysts, operators, customer IT teams, and administrators to prototype solutions, provide training, and translate deployment experience into product requirements.
- Troubleshoot application, storage, networking, deployment, and production issues in disconnected environments.
- Travel 40–60% to customer sites within the region.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on backend engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong Python programming skills, including typed and tested services and asynchronous APIs; TypeScript is a plus.
- Experience designing high-performance APIs, distributed services, messaging, caching, and databases under real production load.
- Production experience in both cloud and on-premises environments, including AWS.
- Deep hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience, including deployment, debugging, and cluster upgrades.
- Experience with GitOps, Terraform, Ansible, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and CI/CD pipelines, preferably in offline or isolated networks.
- Production-scale PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB experience covering schema design, tuning, replication, backup, and recovery.
- Strong communication and customer engagement skills, including the ability to work with intelligence analysts and military operators.
- Strong spoken and written English and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel 40–60% to customer sites within the region.
- Eligibility and ability to attain relevant national and NATO security clearances; candidates must be based in-country and speak the deployment country’s language at a native level.
- Preferred qualifications include defence, intelligence, government, air-gapped, on-premises, event-streaming, advanced Kubernetes, security hardening, geospatial, satellite imagery, remote-sensing, AI/LLM infrastructure, or defence-technology experience.
- Kafka or similar event-streaming experience, GPU scheduling, model serving, vector databases, and active use of AI-assisted development tools are additional advantages.
