Base Salary
$216k - $372k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and architecture for the Mojo compiler backend, including IR lowering, optimization passes, and code generation for heterogeneous hardware.
- Act as technical lead for backend compiler engineers by driving design reviews, breaking down complex problems, setting standards, and multiplying team output.
- Use profiling tools to identify optimization opportunities and design compiler passes to address them.
- Lead debugger, profiler, debug-information, data-introspection, and visualization efforts involving LLDB and the GDB family.
- Guide editor and language-tooling experiences involving language servers and IDE extensions.
- Partner with Mojo language, MAX, kernel, hardware-enablement, and open-source community teams.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical direction beyond the immediate team.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience with production compiler toolchains, including IR design, optimization passes, and code generation.
- Strong experience with LLVM and MLIR, including dialects, lowering pipelines, and code generation.
- Demonstrated technical leadership without formal management, including project leadership, architecture ownership, and mentoring.
- Strong C++ and Python skills.
- Hands-on experience extending or building debugger support with LLDB or the GDB family.
- Familiarity with editor or IDE tooling, language servers such as LSP, and VS Code extensions or comparable developer-experience surfaces.
- Working knowledge of CPU, GPU, or accelerator architecture and performance analysis.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Preferred qualifications include open-source, SDK, or community-driven project experience; profilers such as Linux perf or LLVM XRay; accelerator or graph compiler code generation; GPU debugging with cuda-gdb or ROCgdb; and contributions to LLVM, MLIR, or other open-source compiler communities.
