Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services for subscriptions, billing, checkout, and payment execution.
- Develop API-first domain models for subscriptions, orders, invoices, payment intents, and payment methods.
- Create resilient distributed flows using asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, and failure-recovery mechanisms.
- Design platform-agnostic systems supporting multiple payment providers.
- Improve production reliability and observability through metrics, logs, traces, and data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with Product, Payments, Data, Finance, and other teams on end-to-end solutions.
- Modernize existing billing flows and migrate large-scale production traffic and subscriptions to the new platform.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building backend systems in production.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience designing complex backend systems.
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- In-depth understanding of API design, domain modeling, object-oriented programming, and SOLID principles.
- Experience designing systems for reliability, scalability, consistency, and failure recovery.
- Expertise in asynchronous and event-driven architectures.
- Commitment to automated testing, clean code, and maintainable software design.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across multiple services and data sources.
- Strong ownership, communication, collaboration, and practical experience using modern AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Experience with billing, subscriptions, fintech, payments, transaction-heavy systems, payment providers, high-volume migrations, workflow orchestration, distributed transaction patterns, or large-scale data and observability platforms is advantageous.
