Responsibilities
- Work with partners on platform bring-up.
- Debug, prioritize, and escalate issues to engineering teams when necessary.
- Coordinate communication among Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams.
- Build and maintain working relationships with OEM, ODM, and silicon partners.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and collect, organize, reproduce, and explain technical issues.
- Provide response times and estimated timelines for resolving technical problems.
- Plan, build, and deliver Ubuntu ecosystem technical training for partners.
- Design and provide factory support during production preparation and production runs.
- Occasionally travel internationally to the EU, USA, Taiwan, and China.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM, preferably Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Deep knowledge of Linux system-level architecture, including the Linux kernel and boot process.
- Ability to debug and resolve Linux issues, perform root-cause analysis, and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Experience collaborating with customers, partners, and globally distributed engineering teams.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work with emerging technologies.
- Experience with system firmware, including UEFI, ACPI, DSDT, boot loaders, and device firmware, is desirable.
- Experience debugging PCI ASPM, SATA ALPM, and low-power profiles is desirable.
- Experience with board design, bring-up, and validation is desirable.
- Knowledge of x86, ARM, and RISC-V computer architectures is desirable.
- Familiarity with the Ubuntu development model and Shell or Python scripting is desirable.
- Experience with electrical engineering design tools such as schematic capture and layout is desirable.
