Base Salary
$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain scalable and reliable production database environments using MySQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, and other database systems.
- Monitor database health, diagnose issues, tune queries and indexes, and improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop database tools and automation scripts to reduce manual operational work.
- Advise development teams on database design, best practices, and architecture.
- Manage database upgrades, migrations, and schema changes with minimal disruption.
- Triage and resolve incidents, implement preventative measures, and provide 24/7 escalated on-call support.
- Conduct capacity planning and benchmarking across multiple database technologies.
- Ensure data integrity, high availability, security, and privacy compliance.
- Design and deploy AI-driven operations tools and structure database tuning knowledge for AI-consumable formats as a preferred initiative.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on MySQL database management experience.
- At least 4 years of experience with Azure, AWS, or another major cloud provider.
- Strong understanding of distributed and replicated database architectures.
- Experience monitoring and analyzing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and improving database reliability and scalability.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Golang or Shell.
- Strong expertise in Linux operating systems, storage, networking, and related system principles.
- Preferred qualifications include 5+ years managing MySQL at scale, ClickHouse or MongoDB experience, database internals expertise, Percona or MySQL source-code experience, and Golang or other programming experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini, LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP integrations, AI tooling transformations, and AI-driven operations platforms.
- Bilingual Mandarin and English fluency is highly preferred.
