Base Salary
$125k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, maintainable, and secure service architectures and contribute to long-term platform and architectural planning.
- Build backend services and web or background worker applications using C# or TypeScript.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, with PostgreSQL preferred.
- Identify platform improvements, develop new services, and reduce technical debt.
- Implement and maintain deployment workflows, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Apply secure coding, vulnerability assessment, secrets management, and other application and infrastructure security practices.
- Improve code quality through architecture, code reviews, testing, automation, and deployment standards.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex backend issues and act as a technical expert for system reliability.
- Deliver large-scale, high-impact projects and optimize performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers through coaching, pairing, and feedback, and champion engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver platform solutions.
- Stay current with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, secure software practices, frameworks, architectures, and industry trends.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of progressive software engineering experience, with leadership experience required.
- In-depth knowledge of modern software development practices and architectures.
- Proficiency in or ability to ramp up quickly with typed, functional programming in C# or TypeScript.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; PostgreSQL expertise is preferred.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms and system architectures.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, Git, deployment workflows, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Expertise in application and infrastructure security best practices.
- Strong understanding of testing and automation practices and experience optimizing performance for reliability and scalability.
- Interest in AI/ML applications in production systems.
- Experience working in ambiguous and complex problem spaces with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, and project delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, adaptability, strategic problem-solving ability, and a commitment to mentoring.
