Base Salary
$197k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Develop robust cloud-based solutions that meet regulatory needs and support customer experiences.
- Stay current with technology trends, experiment with emerging technologies, and mentor engineering community members.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify improvement opportunities, refactor systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance.
- Influence long-term technology strategy in a you-build-it-you-own-it environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master’s degree, 7+ years coding with multiple listed languages, and 3+ years with databases and database management systems.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and Git-based version control.
- Preferred: experience troubleshooting cloud environments, using AI coding tools and IDE copilots, applying observability, mentoring engineers, leading large-scale initiatives, and enforcing coding standards and design patterns.

- Annual full-time salary ranges vary by location: $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, VA and $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, VA.
- The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including potential cash bonuses and long-term incentives.
