Responsibilities
- Design, train, fine-tune, optimize, and deploy transformer-based language models and foundation models.
- Build semantic retrieval, embedding, reranking, ranking, and retrieval-augmented generation systems.
- Develop models for query understanding, intent prediction, personalization, retrieval, ranking, and recommendations.
- Research knowledge distillation, model compression, quantization, pruning, and low-latency inference for on-device deployment.
- Optimize models for on-device memory, compute, power, and latency constraints.
- Evaluate language models, define AI quality metrics, and build automated and human-in-the-loop evaluation pipelines.
- Partner with engineering, research, product, and design teams to bring AI capabilities from research into production.
- Lead projects from early exploration through large-scale deployment and contribute to technical strategy.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry or research experience developing machine learning systems.
- Background in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, search, recommender systems, or generative AI.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying transformer-based models and large language models.
- Experience with transformers, embeddings, representation learning, and neural ranking.
- Programming proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ and experience building production-quality software with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
- Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D., experience with resource-constrained or on-device machine learning, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, semantic search, query understanding, personalized retrieval, learning-to-rank, recommendation models, multimodal or agentic AI, and large-scale production AI systems.
- Preferred experience includes transformer and foundation model families such as BERT, T5, Llama, Gemma, and Mistral, plus rigorous experimentation and translating research advances into production solutions.
