Sr. Software Engineer, Platform Orchestration - Slack

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of software projects improving service deployment, management, and observability across Slack infrastructure.
- Design and build foundational orchestration systems for reliable, scalable, and compliant service operations.
- Develop tools for continuous delivery, incident workflow automation, and service health and reliability metrics.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code, automation frameworks, and AWS-native platform solutions.
- Integrate platform capabilities into engineering workflows and extend internal frameworks for deployment, service ownership, and lifecycle management.
- Promote platform efficiency, best practices, reliable operations, and cost-conscious cloud resource usage.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required; the role does not provide visa sponsorship.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to design scalable, maintainable systems.
- Strong understanding of reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency for distributed systems.
- Production experience operating backend systems and building or scaling related tools, workflows, or platforms.
- Hands-on AWS experience with depth in multiple core services.
- Experience building infrastructure as code with tools such as Terraform.
- Collaborative and mentoring approach with rigor around testing, design, documentation, and operational excellence.
- Preferred qualifications include deep AWS IAM, EC2, or networking knowledge; AWS Professional or Specialty certifications; experience with high-scale CI/CD, service orchestration, or incident automation; and success reducing cloud costs through tooling or automation.

- The position is based within Slack infrastructure and has location-specific annual base salary ranges of $172,500-$260,100 or $207,800-$285,800 in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas.
