Base Salary
$165k - $295k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of critical AI product initiatives on edge devices.
- Develop tactical AI solutions and longer-term research initiatives.
- Work with petabyte-scale customer-operations data, including text, transactions, diagnostics, sensor, camera, and location data.
- Partner across business units to prototype AI experiences and optimize ML model performance on edge devices.
- Track industry and academic research and adopt relevant novel technologies.
- Collaborate with ML engineers and scientists, full-stack engineers, and firmware engineers to deliver product features, services, and optimizations.
- Champion and model Samsara’s cultural principles while supporting global growth.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
- Profound experience optimizing ML models and systems for edge compute constraints.
- Proficiency with Spark, Ray, or a similar framework.
- Programming experience in Python or a similar language.
- Programming experience in C++ or Rust.
- Strong functional knowledge of iterative machine learning product development.
- Experience developing and shipping production code at large scale.
- Ability to turn ambiguous customer and business requirements into clear problem definitions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical peers and leadership.
- Experience coaching and mentoring ML Engineers.
- Preferred: experience self-serving data for experiments and model training at scale.
- Preferred: established record of successful high-impact AI deliveries.
- Preferred: deep knowledge of state-of-the-art computer vision and multimodal models.
