Staff Software Engineer

- Own customer success through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmap spanning multiple teams.
- Drive architecture and capability evolution for robotic systems, including hardware, compute, storage, networking, service orchestration, and software platform concerns.
- Lead teams developing on-platform and off-platform software for autonomous systems.
- Act as the software engineering subject matter expert across engineering, business, and sales stakeholders.
- Drive software development processes, full-lifecycle testing, and software- and hardware-in-the-loop test and simulation fixtures.
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment while leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Collaborate with external teams on interface requirements and travel to co-locate with end users or other teams up to 20% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Leadership experience within a high-performing technology organization and extensive professional software engineering experience.
- Systems or application programming skills covering algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design.
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems and working across the software stack through design, implementation, operation, and sustainment.
- Experience owning an entire software system, including stakeholder engagement, requirements, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Ability to mentor senior team members, build team cohesion, and obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- Preferred experience includes military mission system delivery, C++, Rust, Go, TypeScript, React, horizontally scaled cloud technologies, embedded robotics software, modeling and simulation, safety-critical software, and product delivery through manufacturing, acceptance, deployment, and sustainment.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts and interest in growing toward Principal Software Engineer, Senior Manager, Software Engineering, or Tech-Lead-Manager responsibilities.
