Responsibilities
- Define and own end-to-end test strategy for new and existing services from requirements and design through release sign-off.
- Prioritize P0/P1 scenarios and execute comprehensive manual, exploratory, and automated testing for complex data-heavy workflows.
- Build, maintain, and scale UI, API, and integration automation suites using modern testing tools.
- Integrate automated tests into engineering pipelines to enable parallel execution and fast feedback.
- Champion shift-left testing, identify testability concerns early, and participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and design reviews.
- Reduce test flakiness and improve confidence in continuous testing pipelines.
- Track test coverage, release quality metrics, and defect trends for stakeholders.
- Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and incorporate learnings into test strategy and automation.
- Mentor engineers on testing best practices and help improve quality across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software testing experience with substantial hands-on manual and automation testing across UI, API, and database/backend systems.
- Ability to translate business and domain rules into thorough manual test cases and identify edge cases in data- or workflow-heavy systems.
- Proficiency in Java or another object-oriented language and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST Assured, Karate, or similar automation tools.
- Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
- Experience integrating automated tests into pipelines using Jenkins or an equivalent tool.
- Experience with Git and JIRA.
- Ability to define test strategy and critical scenario coverage for new services or capabilities.
- Experience working as an embedded tester within a cross-functional engineering squad.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and production-defect root-cause analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
- Experience in payments, banking/finance, telecom, insurance, supply chain, or e-commerce is strongly preferred.
- Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter is preferred.
- Exposure to GenAI-assisted testing with GitHub Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT is preferred.
- Experience building reusable automation utilities or libraries and improving testing-pipeline reliability is preferred.
