Responsibilities
- Build production AI solutions, including conversational interfaces, production agents, MCP servers, and agentic workflows, using Vercel’s eve framework, AI SDK, and AI Cloud infrastructure.
- Lead large-scale migrations from legacy React, Vue, and other frameworks to Next.js, including Pages Router to App Router transitions and incremental adoption strategies.
- Conduct code audits and improve website performance by identifying bottlenecks, architectural anti-patterns, and optimization opportunities.
- Architect and implement high-performance Next.js applications using Server Components, streaming, ISR, and advanced rendering strategies.
- Embed with strategic customers, work within their systems and constraints, and ship production TypeScript code.
- Deliver workshops, pair programming, documentation, and knowledge transfer so customer teams can maintain and extend solutions.
- Build relationships with engineering, product, and executive stakeholders while translating technical capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
- Identify reusable implementation patterns and share insights with Vercel Product and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience and at least 2 years in a customer-facing technical role such as consulting, solutions architecture, forward-deployed engineering, or technical founding.
- Experience using AI instrumentation such as harnesses, skills, and MCPs to build and deploy web applications, backend systems, or agentic workflows.
- Strong communication, technical discovery, executive presentation, mentoring, customer relationship, and business analysis skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites.
- For Next.js-focused candidates: expert TypeScript skills; deep Next.js expertise with App Router, Server Components, server-side rendering, static generation, incremental static regeneration, and personalization; experience leading frontend migrations; and mastery of React and its ecosystem.
- For AI-focused candidates: production experience with LLMs and AI applications, including agents, cloud sandbox and filesystem agent patterns, human-in-the-loop patterns, and value optimization; familiarity with Vercel’s eve framework and AI SDK is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include enterprise AI transformation experience, large-scale migrations to Next.js, performance optimization and Core Web Vitals expertise, contributions to Next.js, React, or AI SDK open-source projects, enterprise deployment experience, relevant industry experience, or conference and thought-leadership experience.
