Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate safety-critical flight software.
  • Develop, integrate, test, validate, and verify GN&C algorithms and requirements.
  • Use MATLAB, Simulink, Autocode, Python, and C/C++ to update, analyze, and test GN&C flight software.
  • Perform deep-dive analyses of flight and simulation software.
  • Recommend improvements to flight software, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with experience in the field or a related area.
  • Significant knowledge of guidance, navigation, and control and experience with 6-DOF algorithms and simulations.
  • Proficiency with C/C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with validation and verification of GN&C algorithms and requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with NASA civil servants and contractor employees.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in engineering with three or more years of experience, or a PhD in engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: significant experience with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Autocode.
  • Preferred: safety- and flight-critical embedded software development, source-code control, continuous integration, and Agile software development.
  • Preferred: experience with GN&C software development, software process and procedure development, and software integration and build management.
  • Preferred: experience with Kalman filters, neural networks, UDU factorization, advanced smoothers, artificial intelligence or machine learning, and TRICK/JEOD simulation architecture.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency may be required, and the candidate must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
