Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for authentication platform services and own critical architectural decisions.
- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of authentication features including sign-in, MFA, federation, and account lifecycle management.
- Partner with Platform, Security, Identity, Product, and adjacent engineering teams on shared infrastructure and authentication standards.
- Establish approaches for threat modeling, credential protection, session management, abuse mitigation, and real-time risk signals.
- Improve code quality, testing, observability, incident response, technical debt, and platform reliability.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design critiques, and pairing.
- Champion AI-assisted engineering practices using Claude Code, Cursor, and related workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated senior- or staff-level impact.
- 5+ years of backend services engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
- At least 1 year of experience with AI-assisted development tools, including at least one year of daily use.
- Deep expertise with authentication and identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, FIDO2, and WebAuthn.
- Experience leading large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience designing, building, or operating an Identity Provider or Identity and Access Management platform at scale.
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-63, FedRAMP, or Kantara Initiative requirements.
- Experience with federation, SSO, enterprise identity integrations, SCIM, XACML, LDAP, or Active Directory.
- Strong background in authentication security engineering, including threat modeling, credential attack mitigation, account takeover prevention, rate limiting, and session security.
- Experience with React or modern frontend frameworks for authentication user experiences.
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and improving engineering culture and practices.
- Startup or high-growth company experience with strong ownership and execution.
