Responsibilities
- Build and own the agent orchestration engine for long-running, multi-step AI agent sessions.
- Develop distributed session management using leases, heartbeats, conditional writes, and checkpoint-based crash recovery.
- Build event-driven pipelines using ordered queues, Kafka consumers, and real-time streaming.
- Implement structured concurrency with asynchronous tasks, fail-fast behavior, and graceful cancellation.
- Create observability infrastructure with instrumentation, distributed trace propagation, and custom span lifecycle management.
- Develop caching and state layers using Redis and DynamoDB with scoped storage, batch-read optimization, and hot-reload configuration.
Requirements
- 12+ years building production backend or infrastructure systems.
- Deep experience in at least three areas including distributed systems, asynchronous programming, event-driven architectures, infrastructure databases, observability, or gRPC/protobuf.
- Strong Python or Go skills, ideally both.
- Experience designing and operating systems handling real traffic at scale.
- Experience with consistency, idempotency, delivery guarantees, distributed leasing or locking, queues, databases, tracing, or streaming RPCs as applicable.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident status.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and novel problems without established textbook solutions.
