Responsibilities
- Build and own an agent orchestration engine for long-running sessions involving planning, execution, user interaction, LLM calls, and tool invocations.
- Design distributed session management using DynamoDB conditional writes, lease ownership, heartbeat protocols, and checkpoint-based crash recovery.
- Develop event-driven message pipelines using SQS FIFO queues, Kafka consumers, gRPC, and Socket.IO.
- Implement structured concurrency with Python asyncio TaskGroups, including polling, lease heartbeats, output publishing, cancellation, and fail-fast behavior.
- Build observability infrastructure with OpenTelemetry, distributed trace propagation, and custom span lifecycle management.
- Develop caching and state layers using Redis and DynamoDB, including scoped storage, batch-read optimization, and hot-reload configuration.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building production backend or infrastructure systems.
- Deep experience in at least three areas: distributed systems; concurrent or asynchronous programming; event-driven architectures; database systems for infrastructure; observability; or gRPC/protobuf.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go, ideally both.
- Experience designing and operating systems handling real traffic at scale.
- Ability to work through ambiguity and solve novel problems without established textbook solutions.
