Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Act as a conduit between Global Architecture and engineering or development teams.
- Collaborate with architects across different organizations and introduce or train teams on new technologies.
- Lead teams in troubleshooting and diagnosing complex project issues and coordinate the resources needed for resolution.
- Evaluate technologies, translate findings into solutions and alternatives, and identify risks, impacts, and schedule adjustments.
- Drive technical direction and architecture evolution through reviews and hands-on leadership.
- Monitor business-unit system health and design proposals to address negative trends.
- Identify subsystems or components that should evolve into shared infrastructure.
- Research technology advancements and develop alliances to leverage technical opportunities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in software, network, or systems engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Expert-level knowledge of one or more programming languages or an engineering discipline.
- Expertise in multiple areas including parallel and distributed processing, information retrieval, data mining, natural language processing, very large-scale databases, declarative languages, and high-performance computing.
- Working knowledge of multiple areas including network design, storage system architectures, service-oriented architecture technologies, XML and XSLT, and parallel processing architectures such as SMP and NUMA.
- Experience with multiple operating systems including Windows Server, UNIX/Linux, and z/OS.
- Strong project planning, time management, change management, delegation, problem-solving, communication, presentation, customer service, and research skills.
- Experience leading teams, coordinating resources, translating technical findings into solutions, and communicating with senior and executive management and customers.

- U.S. national base pay is $118,300-$219,800, with geographic differentials; the Chicago range is $130,200-$241,800.
