Responsibilities
- Own the execution and evolution of design integrations, BIM families, plugins, scripts, and platform-specific data structures within ICON’s product architecture.
- Build and maintain LLM-driven or agentic tooling, BIM plugins, design-automation scripts, and proof-of-concept prototypes for internal design workflows.
- Define BIM design rulesets and input parameters for Software implementation and resolve contributor-escalated edge cases.
- Establish QA, validation, versioned-release, and regression protocols for design integrations.
- Translate building-product, architectural, structural, and building-science requirements into technical specifications and integration updates.
- Partner with Software on computational-geometry and BIM-intensive features, including implementation-level reviews and roadmap tradeoffs.
- Coordinate testing of Software implementations with relevant technical domain leads.
- Conduct technical discovery with internal and customer-facing teams and convert BIM-to-fabrication friction into product requirements.
- Author technical reference documentation and usage standards for design integrations and tooling.
- Identify physical-to-digital and digital-to-physical tool and process integrations and report progress to department and product leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, Computer Science, or a related strongly technical field.
- 8+ years of related experience in BIM-driven design, design-to-fabrication workflows, or construction technology platforms; alternatively, 6+ years with a master’s degree or 3+ years with a Ph.D.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and complementary BIM/CAD authoring tools, with experience shipping families, plugins, or scripts into production.
- Demonstrated software delivery experience shipping internal tools or platform features against a release cadence.
- Strong understanding of construction and design practices, including structural systems, architectural design, and construction sequencing.
- Ability to translate architectural and building-science requirements into technical specifications for software collaboration.
- Preferred experience with computational geometry, BIM interoperability, NURBS, BREP, IFC schema authoring, or comparable frameworks.
- Preferred experience productizing construction elements and translating bespoke design intent into validated platform components.
- Experience with 3D printing, robotics, advanced manufacturing, LiDAR-to-model workflows, computer vision, cloud-native automation, APS/AWS-style pipelines, or AI-augmented engineering tooling is advantageous.
