Responsibilities
- Architect and mentor teams building highly scalable, interdependent distributed systems and data-plane platforms.
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability, resilience, and availability bottlenecks for hyper-scale workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, operational readiness standards, and SLO-aligned durability and availability practices.
- Develop replication and synchronization strategies and formally verify complex system features using techniques such as TLA+.
- Lead troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause investigations, and operational support standards.
- Architect security controls, guide vulnerability remediation, and ensure cloud infrastructure compliance.
- Develop enterprise-level automation and change strategies for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of software development experience, or 11 years with a bachelor's degree, 9 years with a master's degree, or 7 years with a doctorate in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data management, including designing, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data pipelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data integration and services for loading and managing data from various sources.
- At least 5 years of academic or professional experience with cloud platforms.
- At least 10 years of system-level testing and automation experience.
- At least 4 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred qualifications include 16 years of software development experience, increased experience requirements for degree holders, and people leadership or management experience.
