Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and operate business-critical APIs and scalable backend services.
- Architect reusable code, libraries, patterns, components, and engineering standards across teams.
- Optimize service performance using monitoring, profiling, tracing, load testing, data modeling, query optimization, and caching.
- Lead architecture meetings, design reviews, task breakdowns, and technical discussions.
- Implement feature toggles, CI/CD, test automation, logging, monitoring, and other release best practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response efforts to maintain system reliability.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Technical Program Managers as a domain expert.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 6+ years of software development experience building high-performance, highly scalable backend cloud application systems.
- Expertise in Kotlin, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Bottle/Gunicorn, or similar backend web frameworks.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch query optimization, and caching systems.
- Experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL request processing.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS services, and cloud infrastructure design.
- Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Datadog or similar APM solutions.
- Understanding of API design, security best practices, performance optimization, production support, incident response, and distributed systems troubleshooting.
- Experience collaborating with and influencing Product, Design, QA, and other cross-functional partners.
- Bonus: experience building voice assistants or chatbots, search platforms and personalization, or working with automatic speech recognition.
