Responsibilities
- Define and drive the AI-first engineering vision and strategy across development teams.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams in the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for AI-generated code, including quality, security, compliance, and maintainability.
- Architect and deliver scalable, cloud-native, API-driven, and event-driven solutions across enterprise platforms.
- Guide teams in building production-grade applications and improving developer productivity through AI-assisted coding, testing, debugging, automation, and reusable patterns.
- Drive enterprise integration strategies and align AI-driven solutions with business, product, architecture, and platform teams.
- Provide technical oversight for complex programs and cross-functional initiatives.
- Lead adoption of automation, observability, test-driven development, and other modern engineering practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in AI, automation, and developer productivity.
- Support production readiness, troubleshooting, application performance, and reliability improvements.
- Contribute to or guide Guidewire InsuranceSuite and Digital Solutions implementations.
- Mentor and develop engineers while fostering continuous learning and AI-driven engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted development or developer productivity transformation.
- Experience in technical leadership, architecture, or team enablement roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools.
- Ability to evaluate and govern AI-generated code and define engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, distributed systems, API-first integration, and event-driven architectures.
- Full-stack development expertise with Java/J2EE or a similar stack and UI frameworks.
- Knowledge of API design, integration platforms, web services, DevOps, CI/CD, and automation frameworks.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, collaboration, and influence skills.
- Guidewire InsuranceSuite, Guidewire Cloud Platform, Guidewire Jutro Digital Platform, and property and casualty insurance experience are preferred or nice to have.
