Base Salary
$164k - $246k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write production-grade Python, participate in code reviews and pair programming, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Build, operate, and improve scalable, reliable, and observable ML training and serving infrastructure on Google Cloud and Kubernetes.
- Design and maintain infrastructure for deploying, hosting, resource-managing, and performance-tuning open-source and internally hosted LLMs.
- Apply knowledge of deep learning, transformer architectures, prediction, and inference systems to infrastructure and system design decisions.
- Partner with Applied Scientists to translate model training and serving requirements into self-service infrastructure.
- Design large-scale infrastructure while balancing performance, cost, reliability, and high availability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience building, iterating on, and troubleshooting complex backend and infrastructure systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and production-ready Python development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud, and Kubernetes for deploying and operating production workloads.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as metrics, logging, and tracing for distributed systems.
- Working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and awareness of LLM serving infrastructure and open-source model hosting.
- Basic understanding of transformer architectures, predictors, and how model design choices affect serving infrastructure.
- Comfort designing large-scale, high-availability infrastructure.
