Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of complex software applications, platforms, and services.
- Modernize legacy and monolithic systems and develop scalable, resilient, maintainable, and interoperable solutions.
- Establish coding, documentation, testing, security, accessibility, and engineering standards across development teams.
- Guide end-to-end delivery across development, testing, deployment, operations, release readiness, and incident response.
- Promote DevOps automation, observability, continuous delivery, automated testing, deployment pipelines, and monitoring.
- Resolve critical production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and optimize system performance, uptime, and reliability.
- Design integrations and APIs across legacy and modern systems and develop technical roadmaps and architecture blueprints.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, coaching, onboarding, and training.
- Lead backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, technical planning sessions, design reviews, proofs of concept, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, QA, business, executive, vendor, and partner stakeholders.
- Support governance, security, compliance, RFP/RFQ development, vendor assessments, and solution evaluations.
Requirements
- Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of software development experience, including system design and technical leadership.
- Expert-level programming and design skills in one or more modern technology stacks.
- Knowledge of modern software architectures, including microservices and event-driven design.
- Experience or knowledge of cloud platforms, secure development, DevOps, infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, enterprise systems, scalable web platforms, and Agile software delivery.
- Programming skills in technologies such as .NET, TypeScript, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, advanced debugging, system optimization, architecture, and integration patterns.
- Ability to lead and mentor engineers, influence technical decisions across teams, prioritize multiple projects, and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and good driving record and provide a copy of a 10-year driving history.
- Must pass and maintain eligibility for required national fingerprint-based criminal justice records checks when applicable.
- Preferred master's degree.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Scrum Developer, SAFe Agilist, CISSP, or CEH.
