Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, test, package, deploy, and support online and batch mainframe applications.
  • Perform impact analysis, create detailed technical designs, modify code, execute unit tests, and promote changes through higher environments.
  • Lead technical aspects of projects from inception through deployment and participate in system design and specification sessions.
  • Document design options and solutions using SDLC or Agile methodologies while following development best practices and architectural principles.
  • Coordinate configuration and release management for subprojects and support deployment across development, system, acceptance, and production environments.
  • Develop test strategies, plans, and cases; perform unit and integration testing; support SIT and PAT; and participate in defect triage and resolution.
  • Provide technical support to business and testing teams during testing phases and work with the Test Environment Management Team to ensure deployments are functional.
  • Prepare development estimates and weekly status reports for project management and budget forecasting.
  • Conduct code reviews, resolve complex technical issues, and identify opportunities for reuse, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor junior developers and collaborate with business, technology, program, and project management partners.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree or technical certificate.
  • 5–8 years of experience with substantial software development project work.
  • Strong working experience with mainframe MVS, TSO, COBOL, JCL, mainframe utilities, Endevor, CA-7, MQ, DB2, and IMS DB/DC.
  • Experience with analysis, design, software support, technical solution development, testing, and development best practices.
  • Readiness to act as a senior or lead developer and subject matter expert for highly complex development issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and independent-working abilities.
  • Strong academic background such as computer science or engineering.
  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
  • Ability to adapt Agile processes to changing business needs and work with engineering frameworks, tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of wire payments, SWIFT MT messages, and SWIFT ISO MX messages is an asset.
