Base Salary

$76k - $156k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded flight software controlling CO2, H2O, and gas analyzer sensors.
  • Create, execute, and evaluate C and C++ unit tests using UT-Assert, Gcov, or comparable frameworks, including path coverage, loop-boundary, and MC/DC analysis.
  • Troubleshoot failed test cases, review C code, and collaborate with engineers to resolve software issues.
  • Support software requirements, interface definitions, design, performance analysis, integration, testing, verification, and certification.
  • Integrate and test software and hardware in avionics test-bed and flight-certification environments.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts; execute manual, automated, regression, performance, and security tests.
  • Identify, document, and track defects and collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve them.
  • Follow JSC standard software processes and collaborate with engineering teams and contractors across NASA programs.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, software, computer, systems, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least three years of embedded software development experience is required.
  • Strong C programming skills and experience developing software in a Linux environment are required.
  • Experience developing C/C++ software unit tests with frameworks such as Google Test, UT-Assert, or CppUnit is required.
  • Experience developing embedded firmware for microcontrollers and significant full software-lifecycle experience is required.
  • A master’s degree in a related engineering or computer science discipline is preferred.
  • Aerospace, human-rated space vehicle, NASA Core Flight Software, software and systems integration, verification, automated testing, and communication-protocol experience is preferred.
  • Experience with GitLab, Git, Python, Jira, Agile/Scrum, and CMMI Level 3 or higher process areas is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, responsibility, and ability to work with little supervision are required.
