Responsibilities
- Design and build frameworks, tools, and services that improve infrastructure reliability, observability, and scalability.
- Lead projects end to end, from scoping and design through rollout, across multiple systems and teams.
- Improve the operability of MySQL, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB and help shape Asana’s storage reliability vision.
- Debug production issues across the stack, participate in on-call, and implement durable fixes.
- Partner with product teams to shape a service-oriented architecture for fast and reliable development.
- Share knowledge through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience writing production code and designing systems in Go, Python, Scala, or TypeScript.
- 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and SQL, NoSQL, and search technologies in cloud environments.
- Experience with AWS services such as RDS, EKS, and IAM, plus Terraform and monitoring tools such as Datadog or similar.
- Understanding of SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident response.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with stakeholders across the stack.
