Responsibilities
- Shape the technical direction and roadmap of Core Backend, including shared services, libraries, and developer tools.
- Identify cross-team challenges and create reusable solutions that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and security.
- Lead the design and evolution of shared backend capabilities, including event-driven communication, application-level encryption, and sensitive data protection.
- Develop internal engineering tools such as the Service Catalog, API Registry, SLO platform, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Drive complex initiatives from problem discovery and design through implementation, rollout, and production validation.
- Support teams using shared tools with integrations and migrations, and use feedback to guide improvements.
- Stay hands-on with Go, validate performance and failure scenarios, and build observability and recovery mechanisms.
- Raise engineering standards through architecture reviews, technical decisions, mentoring, and documentation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend engineering experience, including building and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong Go experience and a record of staying hands-on in senior technical roles.
- Deep expertise in distributed, high-load systems; the stated stack includes PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, GCP, GitLab, and microservices.
- Proven ownership of complex initiatives from design through production, including architecture and technology decisions with lasting impact.
- Strong understanding of quality, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and contributing to product development.
- Ability to influence decisions across teams and explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a team or organization.
- Strong English skills and a proactive, autonomous approach to ambiguous problems.
