Responsibilities
- Define platform-wide quality standards, review practices, test strategy, coverage expectations, and release-confidence criteria.
- Mentor engineers and raise testing and software quality practices across teams.
- Design and build automated UI, API, and integration test frameworks using Java and related tools.
- Validate end-to-end clearing workflows, including trade processing, margin, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across distributed systems using test queries and reproducible test data.
- Embed automated testing into delivery pipelines and drive escaped defects down over time.
- Build and maintain scalable test data and test environments for changing live-data scenarios.
- Partner with engineering teams to design testable solutions before implementation and document durable test strategy decisions.
- Execute performance, resiliency, failover, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of quality assurance experience with a strong automation focus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven leadership and mentorship of junior engineers.
- Experience driving QA across the full application lifecycle, including test strategies, test plans, test cases, smoke, regression, functional, and integration testing.
- Understanding of relational databases and experience writing queries to validate data across systems.
- Strong grounding in object-oriented and functional programming, software engineering principles, design patterns, and data modeling.
- Hands-on automated testing experience with Cucumber, Selenium, or Playwright.
- Strong Java expertise sufficient to architect, build, and extend test frameworks.
- API testing experience using REST with RestAssured, Postman, or an equivalent.
- Preferred experience with AI-powered testing tools, FIX messaging, Kafka or another event-streaming platform, and clearing, trading, or financial systems.
- Preferred experience managing a testing team or planning testing activities for a team.
- Nice-to-have experience with Python, Docker, Podman, AWS or another cloud platform, and test data and environment management at scale.
