Responsibilities
- Determine, prioritize, and execute engineering deliverables across the software development lifecycle.
- Partner with business stakeholders to refine functional requirements.
- Architect and build scalable, performant, maintainable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and develop systems using RESTful APIs and relational databases.
- Drive operational efficiency through automation and custom scripting.
- Analyze complex systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Perform validation and verification using test-driven development.
- Conduct peer code reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Upgrade application stacks with modern technologies and frameworks.
- Remediate high-severity security vulnerabilities.
- Provide on-call coverage, production incident response, telemetry, diagnostics, and root-cause resolution for critical platform services.
- Use AI-augmented development tools across requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation, debugging, and incident response.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience developing high-quality Java code.
- Proven expertise with Spring Boot.
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems, including PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, SSO, and SMART-on-FHIR authentication and authorization protocols.
- Experience owning live environments, telemetry, diagnostics, and root-cause resolution.
- Practical test-driven development and automated testing experience.
- High proficiency with Git and practical experience with Grafana and Selenium.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or Claude Code for software development workflows.
- Demonstrated software engineering success, analytical problem-solving ability, initiative, adaptability, collaboration, and self-direction.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Preferred experience with distributed computing, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Linux, IP networking, AWS, Azure, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, cloud-native SaaS, service-oriented architectures, Python, Bash, Groovy, and mission-critical on-call support.
- Preferred experience mentoring teammates and supporting engineering growth.
