Base Salary
$388k - $619k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build scalable, resilient, and highly available distributed systems and cloud services for Netflix’s Open Connect CDN.
- Develop algorithms that steer customers to Open Connect appliances based on network topology, resource availability, system load, and quality of experience.
- Build tools, visibility, and alerting to diagnose, operate, and maintain business-critical systems in real time.
- Create automation for deploying content globally while preserving performance metrics.
- Build data pipelines and distributed software systems for organizing, analyzing, and moving data within large data lakes.
- Analyze hardware utilization, cost efficiency, resource availability, demand, traffic shifts, and system failures to improve real-time optimization.
- Design systems that adapt to changing demand and heterogeneous resource availability and are easy to operate and understand.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with strong Java experience.
- Experience building and operating business-critical, real-time systems at scale.
- Distributed systems experience, including stateful and stateless systems and technologies such as Cassandra and Kafka.
- Experience querying, analyzing, and presenting data from large-scale data lakes using tools such as Python, SQL, Notebooks, and Spark SQL.
- Ability to build robust, responsive, and scalable systems and apply data-driven design decisions.
- Basic networking and ISP interconnection knowledge is preferred.
- Live streaming experience is preferred.
- Experience with machine learning, optimization algorithms, or behavioral modeling, including PyTorch or TensorFlow, is preferred.

- The compensation range for this role is $388,000.00-$619,000.00 annually, with location-based variation; Netflix’s structure consists of annual salary and stock options without bonuses.
