Responsibilities
- Build tracking infrastructure for product analytics, experimentation, and feature gates with source-enforced schemas.
- Develop Databricks Bronze, Silver, and Gold data-processing infrastructure with schema evolution, contract tests, backfills, and monitoring.
- Build ML infrastructure for feature computation and serving, training and evaluation pipelines, and integrating model outputs into products.
- Create self-service templates, local development and preview environments, PHI policy-as-code, alert ownership routing, and progressive deployment gates.
- Design and maintain data interfaces and schemas that can evolve without breaking downstream teams.
- Operate production data and ML systems, participate in on-call support, and resolve incidents under pressure.
- Implement testing, CI, lineage, observability, rollback, and data-diffing capabilities for reliable platform changes.
Requirements
- 1-4 years of engineering experience.
- Experience building internal platform or infrastructure adopted by other engineers.
- Experience operating production data or ML systems and supporting them on call.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with lakehouse systems; Function uses Databricks, while Snowflake or BigQuery experience is transferable.
- Experience designing and evolving interfaces and schemas used by other teams.
- Experience with testing and CI for data or ML systems, including statistically correct and silent-failure-prone workloads.
- Preferred experience with dbt, DLT, Dagster, Airflow, Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, data contracts, data diffing, lineage tooling, Terraform, feature stores, MLOps, evaluation tooling, agentic coding workflows, healthcare, PHI, or HIPAA.
