Base Salary
$230k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for backend services and APIs supporting user access, account hierarchies, settings, and administration workflows.
- Lead architecture and implementation of authorization, tenant-boundary, and customer account model changes.
- Remain hands-on in production code while guiding technical decisions, tradeoffs, and delivery across teams.
- Improve API quality, testing, security, observability, rollout practices, and operational readiness.
- Partner with Product and adjacent Engineering teams to align interfaces and administration capabilities.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, documentation, and technical influence.
- Diagnose complex production issues and drive improvements that prevent recurrence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep experience building production backend systems.
- Track record of leading technical direction or architecture for complex services, APIs, or platform capabilities.
- Strong experience with distributed or multi-tenant systems, data modeling, SQL, and production reliability.
- Experience building backend services with a modern language such as Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript.
- Experience with SQL, relational data stores, REST or GraphQL API design, cloud-hosted production services, and Docker.
- Experience with RBAC, SSO, account hierarchies, delegated administration, auditability, identity and access management, or comparable domain capabilities is valued.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, feature flags, Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry is valued.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, communicate architecture and tradeoffs, influence decisions across teams, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices.
- Cybersecurity or customer-facing SaaS experience with complex tenant models is valued.
