Base Salary
$80k - $100k/yr
Responsibilities
- Enhance the Ceph-based Cloud Storage system for stability, scalability, functionality, performance, and cost.
- Participate in Ceph-based Cloud Storage design and architecture decisions.
- Develop automation frameworks and infrastructure improvements for Cloud Storage.
- Optimize metrics collection and alerting systems.
- Monitor Cloud Storage infrastructure to maintain high availability and reliability.
- Partner with Network and Operations teams on capacity expansion and maintenance windows.
- Evaluate new technologies, storage features, and operational methods.
- Research and develop features for Ceph-based Cloud Storage.
- Document systems and processes, support knowledge sharing, and shadow or mentor team members as required.
- Communicate effectively and work independently while collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of extensive experience configuring, deploying, and managing distributed systems.
- Fluency with Linux, including CentOS, RHEL, Debian, or Ubuntu.
- Foundational knowledge of data structures and distributed systems concepts.
- Hands-on experience with cloud hosting, object storage, and block storage concepts.
- Experience tuning performance in virtualized environments.
- Knowledge of server hardware, IPMI, and storage drives such as SATA and NVMe.
- Strong automation and scripting experience with Python, Bash, PHP, or similar languages.
- Hands-on experience with Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt, or similar automation tools.
- Experience with Ceph or other software-defined storage systems is preferred.
- Experience with logging, metrics, and time-series tools such as Prometheus, collectd, ELK, Grafana, Graylog, or Graphite is preferred.
- Strong communication, time management, collaboration, and independent-work skills.
