Base Salary
$107k - $156k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop security features for embedded and connected devices, including secure boot, key management, encryption, device identity, and data protection.
- Design and implement secure software components using established security architectures and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with CoreOS, firmware, design, hardware, and cloud engineering teams to integrate security capabilities into HP IQ products.
- Develop and maintain software in C, C++, Java, or related languages across embedded, AOSP, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Contribute to TrustZone, TEE, kernel-level, and other hardware-backed security applications.
- Implement secure communication channels between devices and services while protecting sensitive and personal data.
- Work with biometric sensors and hardware components to support secure data flows across device boundaries.
- Participate in threat modeling, security reviews, vulnerability analysis, testing, and remediation.
- Investigate security issues and troubleshoot software and system-level problems affecting product security and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience involving embedded systems, operating systems, firmware, or security-related development.
- Programming experience in C, C++, Java, or a similar systems programming language.
- Foundational knowledge of secure boot, cryptography, authentication, access control, PKI, or application sandboxing.
- Experience developing or debugging software in embedded, Linux, AOSP, Windows, or similar environments.
- Understanding of debugging, testing, code reviews, source control, and software development lifecycle practices.
- Preferred experience or coursework in embedded systems, consumer electronics, IoT, operating systems, firmware, or device security.
- Preferred familiarity with TrustZone, TEE, Android Verified Boot, Keystore, SELinux, hardware-backed security, secure elements, TPMs, biometric systems, trusted execution environments, GDPR, CCPA, or ISO.
- Preferred experience with security testing, vulnerability analysis, threat modeling, or secure coding practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and interest in developing deeper expertise in security, privacy, embedded systems, and emerging technologies.
