Responsibilities
- Build new integrations with third-party billing and usage APIs and maintain existing integrations as vendor APIs and pricing models change.
- Use AI throughout exploration, prototyping, coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review while applying judgment about quality and appropriate human oversight.
- Own data correctness and completeness, including deduplication, reconciliation, race-condition handling, late or restated data, marketplace spend, and negotiated pricing.
- Design normalization models for units, currencies, time granularity, resource and service taxonomies, and cost categories across vendors.
- Own ingestion-pipeline orchestration, scheduling, backfills, and safe self-service reprocessing.
- Collaborate with product, support, and engineering teams to identify and address customer-impacting data gaps.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or a data-heavy backend role with production ownership of dependent pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills and strong Python or equivalent data-programming experience.
- Hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines with an orchestration framework; Dagster or Airflow is highly desired, with Prefect, dbt, or comparable experience also relevant.
- Experience with a cloud data warehouse or analytical store such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or Redshift.
- Experience integrating third-party REST APIs and handling pagination, rate limits, partial failures, late-arriving data, restatements, and inaccurate documentation.
- Experience developing solutions in the cloud or using cloud services.
- Demonstrated focus on data correctness and experience using AI tools throughout an engineering workflow.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Bonus: cloud or SaaS billing data experience, familiarity with Go, financial or audit-grade systems, FinOps practices, or a BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
