Responsibilities
- Build cloud infrastructure from scratch using software development best practices.
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency for global customers.
- Lead incident triage, mitigation, root-cause analysis, and periodic escalation on-call duties.
- Develop automation and tools to reduce manual work and issue-resolution times.
- Perform full-stack diagnostics across production systems.
- Advise engineering teams on scalable designs and operational tradeoffs before features ship.
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional delivery with Product Management, Design, and QA.
- Develop primarily backend software with opportunities to work on frontend and infrastructure layers.
- Communicate outage and production issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Mentor team members and contribute to a high-performing engineering environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing Java applications, preferably in enterprise cloud software.
- Hands-on operational experience with high-volume or critical production services, including incident management and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to write clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code in a collaborative environment.
- Hands-on experience with open-source technologies including Spring, MySQL, Hibernate, Solr, Maven, Git, Tomcat, Linux, AWS, Vagrant, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- 3+ years of experience with relational databases and expert-level SQL skills.
- Scripting proficiency with technologies such as Shell, Bash, Ansible, Python, Go, or Ruby.
- Demonstrated incident-management leadership and communication skills across individual contributors and executives.
- Proven record of improving teams through mentorship.
