Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain API gateway and API management solutions using Apigee, Kong, Envoy, Akamai, and edge server technologies.
  • Implement API authentication, authorization, transport security, payload encryption, certificate management, OAuth, LDAP, SAML, Kerberos, and DDoS protection controls.
  • Engineer API traffic management features including rate limiting, throttling, and quota enforcement.
  • Implement logging, monitoring, and observability using Splunk, Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, operational support, and continuous improvement.
  • Support cloud-native solution implementations and platform automation initiatives.
  • Use, evaluate, and refine enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver solutions for the API developer community.
  • Apply SRE practices and incident-management knowledge to support reliable API platform operations.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least three years of applied experience.
  • At least three years of software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to validate and refine their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resilience and security expectations.
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with application development, testing, and operational support.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing API Gateway solutions, including Apigee, Kong, and Envoy.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and modern API technologies.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with familiarity with SRE practices and incident management.
  • Architectural understanding focused on scalability, reliability, and sound solution design.
  • Exposure to relational and NoSQL databases, cloud-native practices, Agile, DevOps, and test-driven development.
  • Working knowledge of networking and connectivity, including latency diagnosis, DNS issues, cloud connectivity, edge server operations, and CDNs such as Akamai.
  • Experience or strong interest in observability tooling including Splunk, Grafana, and Snowflake.
  • Exposure to designing scalable and resilient systems on public cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technical concepts independently.
