Responsibilities
- Analyze existing mainframe applications and identify remediation requirements for cloud migration.
- Modify and remediate COBOL applications for compatibility with Micro Focus Enterprise Server on AWS.
- Review, update, and optimize JCL, batch jobs, utilities, and application interfaces.
- Document application dependencies, business logic, and technical architecture components.
- Develop, enhance, test, and maintain COBOL-based applications throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Resolve platform compatibility, performance, and application issues through code remediation.
- Support migration and testing of CICS online transactions, batch workloads, and related interfaces.
- Assist with DB2, VSAM, IDMS, and flat-file data migration, validation, and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps teams on AWS deployments and CI/CD implementation.
- Provide development estimates and guide features, functional objectives, or technologies for interested parties.
Requirements
- 6 to 8 years of experience in mainframe application development.
- Hands-on COBOL development and support experience.
- Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Developer and Enterprise Server.
- Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
- Ability to work in Agile and cross-functional project teams.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: experience with mainframe modernization projects.
- Preferred: exposure to AWS cloud environments.
- Preferred: knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred: experience with source control tools such as GitHub.
