Responsibilities

  • Develop and customize AI solutions from prototype through production ownership.
  • Build generative AI and large language model solutions using retrieval, tool calling, structured extraction, and agentic workflows.
  • Identify and size automation and decision-support opportunities across customs and business processes.
  • Define evaluation criteria, build or operate evaluation processes, and prevent regressions before release.
  • Manage pilots and implementation, including clear criteria for scaling or stopping pilots.
  • Monitor inference performance, cost, latency, and business impact.
  • Collaborate with local teams, Group functions, and technology partners.
  • Contribute to privacy, security, AI governance, and EU AI Act compliance documentation.
  • Learn customs processes, challenge requirements where appropriate, and deliver measurable improvements used by operations staff.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of AI engineering, software engineering, or intelligent automation experience, including production AI or LLM features relied upon by real users.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with production code ownership.
  • Demonstrable experience integrating large language models into production systems, including prompt and context design, retrieval-augmented generation, structured output, and graceful failure handling.
  • Practical experience with at least one major cloud AI platform: Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex.
  • Solid backend and full-stack engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data pipelines, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Strong communication skills for working with customs operations experts who are not AI specialists.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Preferred experience with evaluation harnesses, regression suites, LLM-as-judge approaches, and human-in-the-loop review design.
  • Preferred experience with context engineering, agent orchestration frameworks or standards such as LangGraph, MCP, and Temporal, long-running or multi-step workflows, and inference observability and cost control.
