Responsibilities
- Design and deploy autonomous AI agents for multi-step reasoning, tool use, and self-correction in federal benefits workflows.
- Develop deterministic guardrail layers that align probabilistic LLM outputs with business rules and legal or regulatory requirements.
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation and layout-aware knowledge-engineering solutions for manuals, documentation, and unstructured data.
- Design and evaluate hybrid machine learning models combining data-driven prediction with symbolic and rule-based automation.
- Deploy models to cloud environments and implement LLM observability, including reasoning-loop tracing, hallucination monitoring, and data-drift detection.
- Create human-readable audit trails and reasoning chains that explain AI-driven determinations using source documentation.
- Collaborate with solution architects and business stakeholders to translate health insurance policies into executable AI logic.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in machine learning or data science, including at least 2 years of hands-on LLM orchestration and generative AI framework experience.
- Proficiency with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or Semantic Kernel for multi-step agent workflows.
- Strong Python proficiency and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Spark or PySpark for distributed data processing.
- Ability to debug non-deterministic systems and implement rigorous evaluation frameworks such as RAGAS and LLM-as-a-judge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with equivalent professional experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain an OPM Public Trust clearance.
- Master’s degree, Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI services, generative AI, LLM or RAG solutions, federal IT modernization, healthcare or insurance data, and AI/ML governance, privacy, or security experience are preferred.
