Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and architecture of scalable, elastic distributed systems for high-throughput hyperscale workloads.
- Define scalability requirements, optimize performance, and leverage distributed state management and data-plane platforms.
- Design fault-tolerant, highly available systems with redundancy, replication, failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Establish SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, and alerts for reliability and performance.
- Design performance, load, fault-injection, and brownout testing and implement replication and synchronization mechanisms.
- Diagnose production issues, guide incident response and root cause analysis, and ensure operational readiness.
- Enable in-service maintenance, upgrades, patching, updates, and rollbacks with minimal customer impact.
- Implement encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance practices, and required documentation for multi-tenant environments.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and cloud infrastructure automation.
- Manage moderately complex initiatives and provide technical oversight for priorities, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business and customer needs.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and support candidate interviews, assessments, and hiring recommendations.
- Identify improvements to processes, workflows, and team effectiveness.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience designing scalable, elastic, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Experience with high-throughput, hyperscale workloads, distributed state management, replication, failover, and synchronization.
- Ability to establish and use SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and operational readiness practices.
- Experience with performance, load, fault-injection, and brownout testing.
- Experience diagnosing production issues, participating in incident response, and conducting root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of security, encryption, access controls, compliance, and multi-tenant environments.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code and automation for cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to lead moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor engineers, collaborate across stakeholders, and solve complex problems.
- Ability to support candidate interviews, assessments, and hiring recommendations.
