Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of full-stack features for clinical data annotation and internal tooling platforms.
- Partner with product managers, architects, security teams, and engineers to define and deliver reliable platform capabilities.
- Make technical decisions balancing scalability, performance, security, reliability, and delivery speed.
- Lead or participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, code reviews, debugging, on-call rotation, and production issue resolution.
- Implement advanced UI interactions including text highlighting, tagging, categorization, and review workflows.
- Build backend services supporting data modeling, clinical note annotation and normalization, LLM-based labeling, concept mapping, operational workflows, and model evaluation frameworks.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to translate annotation requirements into scalable solutions for LLM-based model development and improve model performance.
- Optimize user experience performance for high-volume data and concurrent users.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and improve team practices.
- Communicate project status and collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to deliver clinical data projects.
Requirements
- Graduate or master’s-level degree in computer science, data science, clinical informatics, health information management, clinical research, data analysis, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on programming experience with C# and .NET/.NET Core.
- Front-end development experience with React and TypeScript.
- Experience with state management frameworks such as Redux.
- Backend experience with NestJS, Node.js, and/or C#/.NET.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, data structures, and at least one statistical programming language such as R or Python.
- Familiarity with Spark big data analytics environments, GenAI tools, data wrangling, analysis, and reproducible research workflows.
- Understanding of software engineering practices including unit testing, code reviews, debugging, source control, CI/CD, and production service ownership.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, secrets management, secure API design, and data protection.
- Ability to translate customer or research-team requests into analytical code, rigorous analytical datasets, and research analyses.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, analytical, ownership, accountability, reliability, and communication skills.
- Preferred experience with Azure services; ASP.NET Core or Web API; distributed systems, event-driven architectures, queues, messaging, or data pipelines; Apache Spark; Docker; Kubernetes; observability; service reliability and scalability; healthcare or regulated data environments; unstructured clinical data or natural language processing outputs; and large healthcare datasets such as electronic health records and clinical notes.
