Responsibilities
- Define the reference architecture for the AWS SaaS platform across compute, networking, data, messaging, and observability layers.
- Lead multi-tenancy strategy, including data isolation, tenant routing, and compliance boundaries.
- Own Infrastructure-as-Code strategy with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, including reusable modules and governance.
- Design the container and Kubernetes orchestration platform, including cluster topology, scheduling, autoscaling, and namespace conventions.
- Architect the event-driven messaging layer using RabbitMQ or Kafka, with schema governance, dead-letter handling, and consumer patterns.
- Define persistence, data modeling, backup, and recovery standards across relational databases and MongoDB.
- Establish observability and SLI/SLO frameworks covering metrics, tracing, logging, and alerting.
- Embed encryption, IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, and SOC 2 Type II readiness into the platform architecture.
- Produce architecture decision records and documentation, guide engineering teams, collaborate with product and engineering leadership, and mentor senior engineers.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience, including 4+ years in an architecture role for a SaaS product.
- Deep hands-on AWS experience across compute, networking, storage, and managed services.
- Proven experience architecting multi-tenant SaaS platforms, ideally including migration from on-premises or private cloud to public SaaS.
- Strong command of event-driven architecture, microservices decomposition, twelve-factor applications, and API-first design.
- Experience leading architecture across multiple engineering teams and setting direction without owning every implementation.
- Ability to create implementation-ready documentation, explain tradeoffs to executives and non-technical stakeholders, and present architecture decisions.
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements while using a computer and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.

- Estimated base salary of CAD$150,000–CAD$180,000 plus potential bonus.
