Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Digital Thread using RDF, OWL, SPARQL, and related Semantic Web technologies.

  • Develop tool adapters that map local data schemas to a global ontology without losing semantic meaning.
  • Architect and implement versioning, configuration control, traceability, and concurrency mechanisms for the Digital Thread graph.
  • Develop software patterns that preserve graph performance and consistency across large distributed programmes.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Systems Engineer and other software engineers to turn formal ontologies into performant software implementations.
  • Contribute to the wider adoption strategy for Knowledge Graphs and semantic technologies across the business.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in a modern programming language such as Python, Java, Node, or TypeScript.
  • Experience handling data from heterogeneous and distributed sources.
  • Experience with RDF, OWL, SPARQL, or graph databases such as Neo4j, GraphDB, or Stardog is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and tenuously connected digital environments.
  • Commitment to software craftsmanship, clean code, SOLID principles, maintainable architecture, and automated testing.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Interest in Knowledge Engineering and ability to reason about relationships and abstractions.
  • Ability to prioritise composability and scalability over quick, hard-coded solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and a collaborative attitude.

Benefits

  • Permanent hybrid role with an expectation of three days per week on-site; flexible hours are available.
