Responsibilities
- Build and optimize scalable, high-performance Java microservices for real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaigns.
- Design and implement event-driven systems that process large volumes of real-time data for marketing partners and customers.
- Define future architecture while simplifying existing systems, improving operational performance, and removing unnecessary code or documentation.
- Own parts of the product and technology, lead projects aligned with strategic direction, and deliver secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code.
- Participate in design, scoping, prioritization, code reviews, planning, support-ticket reviews, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Coach and mentor software engineers, improve colleagues’ technical knowledge, and contribute to engineering practices.
- Participate in the organization’s on-call support rotation and understand software dependencies, runtime properties, operating systems, and build dependencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong backend software engineering experience with Java and high-volume systems.
- Experience with AWS, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with event streaming and messaging technologies such as SNS, SQS, or Kafka.
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, concurrency, modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
- Expertise in testing concepts and tools, plus a strong sense of ownership, adaptability, and drive.
