Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deliver secure, stable, scalable, and maintainable backend microservices.
- Develop event-driven systems processing high volumes of real-time data for customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaigns.
- Define future architecture while simplifying, consolidating, and operationally improving existing systems.
- Own parts of the product and technology, become a subject matter expert, and participate in design, scoping, prioritization, code review, planning, and support discussions.
- Lead projects with a holistic view of the vertical’s strategic direction and deliver software enhancements on schedule.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, troubleshoot and resolve defects, and address root causes of production problems.
- Coach and mentor software engineers and contribute to colleagues’ technical and professional development.
- Document software, understand data storage and optimization, and maintain awareness of system dependencies, runtime properties, and build requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong backend experience with Java and experience building high-volume systems.
- Experience with AWS, cloud infrastructure, DevOps concepts, and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS, SQS, or Kafka, plus relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency.
- Understanding of containers such as Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
- Expertise in testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing best practices into the software development lifecycle; familiarity with Agile environments and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting.
