Responsibilities
- Design and build resilient backend services and distributed APIs for streaming video and real-time sensor data.
- Improve system performance, throughput, and high availability across multi-region cloud deployments.
- Work with continuous delivery pipelines and deployment tooling to support reliable software releases.
- Maintain security best practices, participate in code reviews, and build automated tests.
- Collaborate with firmware, frontend, and QA specialists in a cross-functional team to shape product features.
Requirements
- Strong foundational skills in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or Java.
- Demonstrated industry experience building and maintaining backend services as a software engineer.
- Experience developing backend microservices for cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field, or a proven track record of practical software engineering experience.
- Interest in using AI-assisted tools within a modern development workflow.
- Ability to work in person at the Edinburgh city centre office two days per week.
- Preferred qualifications include understanding service-oriented architecture and cloud-native products, exposure to machine learning, computer vision, or AI concepts, and willingness to learn Go and other technologies.
