Responsibilities
- Architect and ship high-availability backend systems and scalable production services.
- Integrate LLMs and foundation models into enterprise products and develop AI-powered user experiences.
- Build reliable, maintainable agentic workflows using AI orchestration frameworks.
- Deploy and operate AI pipelines and cloud-native services at scale.
- Create reusable application layers around AI models with robust error handling and seamless product integration.
- Prototype, benchmark, and evaluate model outputs, retrieval quality, and agentic behavior.
- Implement observability, monitoring, feature flags, experimentation, data persistence, caching, and asynchronous processing.
- Develop web interfaces and backend REST APIs as needed.
- Lead technical workstreams, own the development lifecycle, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, design, and ML infrastructure teams.
- Maintain production code quality through testing, security scanning, and dependency hygiene.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience emphasizing backend architecture, distributed systems, system design, scalability, performance optimization, and production systems.
- 3+ years integrating AI capabilities, including LLMs or foundation models, into enterprise products.
- 1–2+ years building AI orchestration frameworks and predictable agentic workflows.
- 4+ years deploying scalable systems on cloud computing platforms.
- 2+ years deploying and operating services in containerized, cloud-native environments with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps tooling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience with deep learning or large models, product-focused AI development, experimentation, evaluation metrics, observability, monitoring, feature flags, databases, caching, messaging, task workflows, and full-stack development.
- Experience with Python backend services, REST APIs, React, and TypeScript.
- Proven technical leadership, ownership of engineering workstreams, mentoring experience, strong communication, and the ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environments.
Benefits
- Annualized base salary of $169,000–$253,000 CAD for the Vancouver and additional Canadian locations, with possible bonus-plan eligibility and annual refresh stock grants.
