Base Salary
$121k - $171k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, fault-tolerant Java backend services and APIs for authentication, authorization, content routing, and data integration.
- Define and evolve the architecture of a scalable, secure, maintainable, and resilient federated platform.
- Implement single sign-on, centralized entitlements, fine-grained authorization, and other backend security controls.
- Optimize system performance through caching, asynchronous processing, and efficient data access patterns.
- Architect HTTPS-based integrations connecting diverse content provider applications to a unified platform.
- Mentor senior engineers through code reviews and guidance on design patterns, testing, and operational excellence.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex production incidents as the technical authority for critical backend services.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
Requirements
- 6 to 10 years of backend software development experience, including significant experience architecting and leading complex, large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and associated frameworks, with the ability to produce production-grade code.
- Deep practical knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design.
- Experience implementing identity and access management solutions using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and fine-grained authorization models.
- Experience with cloud-native development on GCP and AWS, including Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies and selecting appropriate data approaches.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with Unix environments, Oracle databases, distributed caching, AI tooling or applied machine learning, ReactJS, Content Security Policy, corporate design systems, or accessibility compliance standards.
- A master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
