Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for wireless communication systems, focusing on drivers, board support packages, and applications.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and test engineers.
  • Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues using lab equipment and software tools.
  • Write and maintain firmware design and implementation documentation.
  • Support firmware integration and validation in system-level environments.
  • Contribute to improving development processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Remain enrolled in a college or university for the entire January–June 2027 co-op term.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD study in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of C programming for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Python for scripting and automation.
  • Basic understanding of microcontrollers, digital interfaces, and embedded development environments.
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers is desired.
  • Exposure to real-time operating systems and familiarity with Git are desired.
  • Understanding of microcontrollers, peripherals, drivers, board support packages, applications, boot, or security is desired.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • The typical engineering intern pay range is USD $26.00–$47.50 per hour, with starting pay dependent on education, duties, requirements, and work location.
